Have you ever considered learning to fly? If you think flying would be something of interest to you, there are many ways you can learn about flying. Before signing up for flying lessons, it is well worth your time to explore all aspects of learning to fly since flying is not an inexpensive hobby.
Where can you learn about flying? First, there are many magazines devoted to flying. You can find flying magazines at specialty magazine stands or at a local major bookstore.
You can also learn about flying by stopping by one of the local flight schools in your area and asking questions about flying. Once you engage any pilot in a discussion about flying, your biggest problem will be getting them to stop talking about flying. You will find everyone you speak to about flying who is a pilot will be very enthusiastic about the flying experience.
Another place to learn about flying is to go to your local library and check out some books about flying. To learn about the books that are available about flying, you can consult your library’s card catalog or you can stop by your library’s local reference desk and ask the librarian to show you where you can find books on your topic.
Another way to learn about flying is to do your research on the Internet. Look for web sites that are dedicated to teaching would-be pilots about the flying experience. You can also look for online versions of flying magazines which are often available providing a wealth of information at your fingertips.
Another excellent source of information about flying is calling a national amateur pilot’s organization such as the Airline Pilot’s Owners Association. The association publishes a series of informative books about flying, provides orientation material about flying, and also provides a checklist of frequently asked questions and answers about the flying experience.
The association also provides a directory of local chapters and phone numbers you can contact so that you can meet individually with members of the chapter to get all your questions answered about the flying experience.
You can also learn about flying by experiencing the flying experience without ever leaving the ground. One computer program you can buy for under fifty dollars is a Microsoft program called Flight Simulator. Flight Simulator provides an amazingly realistic flight experience by simply “flying” using your personal computer.
If you are thinking about learning to fly, getting information on the topic is easy. Before you start your research, it is best to prepare a list of questions in advance to make certain your research will result in getting all of your questions answered.
