Can I put pictures in a research paper?

Is it appropriate to put pictures in a research paper? I’m writing a paper about aviation, and I wanted to include some interesting pictures and captions.

I’m not trying to take up space, but I think it helps to include some visuals.

    If it’s MLA format, no.
Ask your teacher or just write you paper and in the paper write: “see picture 1,2,3 (or whatever)” and on a seperate paper put the pictures with lables “picture 1″ or 2 or 3.

I believe that it is alright but when you are trying to figure out the length of your paper do not include the space you use for the pictures and captions.

It’s not recommended that you put pictures in a research paper, but if you need to use diagrams to explain complex structures, change of mechanisms over time, etc., then I’m sure that’s good.

It depends on what teachers you have. For example, one of my teachers are funny, and I included some pictures in one of her reports, and got 100%(five pages on George Washington)! Here’s a chart:

    Strict Teacher:No
    Funny Teacher:Yes, but educational pictures.
    Happy-Go-Lucky Teacher: Yeah
Your Favorite Teacher: Yes, then after you give it to her/him tell them, “Your my favorite teacher.”

    Trust me, my system works!
